Certifying a copy of a Power of Attorney

Other than a copy of recorded items in the Notary Journal, a copy of a Power of Attorney is the only document in California that a notary may certify.

Certification means that the copy was examined and compared to the original by the notary and is an exact duplicate of the original. A Certified Copy of a Power of Attorney has the same legal force and effect as the original document.
